Meditations on the theme of death, bereavement and hope
Jonathan writes; “The title of my book comes from my sense that in our efforts to extend boundaries of every sort – including that most mysterious boundary of all between what we call life and death – there is, in fact, no shore too far. In my talk I will discuss these various themes, interwoven with readings from some of my poems all written since the death of my wife. One of the first ones that I wrote, which I’ve called ‘Beauty’, expresses my faith that we are constantly, though largely unconsciously, in touch with those who have died. Other poems explore intimations I have about immortal life, time and space, memory, angels and demons, the night, and about the meaning of sleep as ‘the little death’.”
