The Red Book (A New Series of Seminars)
A Depth Psychological Approach to the Premonitions and Visions of the Future in The Red Book
This is a new series of four seminars given by Brenda Crowther, which follow on from those given by her in 2023 and 2024. It is not compulsory to have attended one or other of Brenda’s previous series of seminars to register for these; however some previous encounter with The Red Book would be helpful.
1. The Spirit of this Time and the Spirit of the Depths
Saturday 20th September 2025, 16:00 – 18:00 BST (17:00 – 19:00 CEST, 15:00 – 17:00 UTC)
A deeper approach to the reality of these two spirits, which form the axis of The Red Book. Jung was 25 years old when the 20th century began. Until his death in 1961, he contributed his reflections, visions and journeys in the unconscious, which led to premonitions of the future, given to him by the spirit of the depths.
2. Descent into Hell in the Future
Saturday 18th October 2025, 16:00 – 18:00 BST (17:00 – 19:00 CEST, 15:00 – 17:00 UTC)
Jung falls into the depths and meets its power. He says: “The spirit of the depths opened my eyes and I caught a glimpse of the inner things, the world of my soul, the many-formed and changing.” Here Jung discusses what it meant to be caught up in the spirit of this time and how it blinded him to what the spirit of the depths knew.
3. The Conception of the God and the Christian God
Saturday 15th November 2025, 16:00 – 18:00 GMT / UTC (17:00 – 19:00 CET)
Jung’s dialogues around the God of love come from his conflict with the spirit of this time and the spirit of the depths, to which he responds with immense energy. Jung realises he must slay the hero, who influences his conception of God – and that this would reveal love, and love for the future.
4. Being True to Love
Saturday 6th December 2025, 16:00 – 18:00 GMT / UTC (17:00 – 19:00 CET)
In the final part of the book, Jung says: “I gathered from Philemon (Jung’s spirit guide) that I must remain true to love …” The spirit of the depths flowers in Jung’s life in the form of love and we see how he has worked with the conflict of the spirit of this time, and of the depths. The realism, the wholeness of Jung’s love has the shadow woven into it and speaks of this new conception for the future.
Important Note
These seminars form an integrated whole, so to participate you will need to sign up for all four – we don’t offer them on a single seminar basis. We are limiting attendance to 24 people to give everyone a chance to participate. We anticipate considerable interest, so please sign up early to avoid disappointment. Everyone taking part will have the opportunity to switch on their videos and microphones. We hope to make video recordings of each seminar available to those taking part; these will NOT be shared with anyone other than those who have registered to attend.
